As AI becomes a new productivity force, how to use data more securely, how to reduce computing energy consumption, and how to combine AI with biology and hardware have become directions entrepreneurs are exploring. Founder Park recently spoke with several entrepreneurs, presenting AI deployment attempts in privacy computing, data center energy saving, synthetic biology, remote sensing, and smart glasses.
In privacy computing, Wang Shuang, founder and chairman of Nuowei Technology, proposed that “data available but invisible” is one of the essential values of privacy computing: availability is the goal, and invisibility is the security requirement. He believes privacy computing is in the early stage of rapid development and will go through stages such as building data networks, constructing an open application ecosystem, and data operation profit-sharing. In data center energy saving, Yunchuang Yuanjing chose AI and edge computing technologies to optimize energy consumption in data centers, large supermarkets, and office buildings. Founder and CEO Shen Xiao said the company’s solution does not replace existing energy consumption solutions but works with them for continuous optimization and requires less manpower; on top of existing energy savings, the solution can further reduce consumption by 15% to 20%. [2]
Synthetic biology is also combining with AI. Kang Kang, co-founder of Beisheng Bio, noted that with advances in gene editing, gene synthesis, and other technologies, as well as the addition of artificial intelligence, the synthetic biology industry has entered a new commercial stage since 2021. From 2021 to March 2022, 16 synthetic biology companies in China completed financing, with total funding exceeding 2.5 billion yuan. [3]
In remote sensing, Dadi Quantum provides a “subscription-based Digital Earth PaaS service.” Founder and CEO Wang Chi said the ultimate vision is to create a holographic Earth that records the past, observes the present, and predicts the future. The company was selected as the only Chinese company in the “2020 Global Machine Learning Earth Observation Market Map.” [5]
In smart wearable devices, Guangli Technology launched Holoswim2 smart swimming goggles, combining traditional swimming goggles with waterproof watch functions to monitor swimming strokes and various body data in real time during swimming. Founder and CEO Zhang Zhuopeng believes the industry does not need to confine content to 3D and interaction with reality; porting 2D content onto glasses can already constitute a huge leap. If AR is understood as assisted display, the era of mass adoption may even take off before 2024. [6]
From data circulation to daily wearables, AI is entering traditional industries in diverse forms. Whether these explorations can scale still depends on technological maturity, policy support, and validation of business models.
