Quantum AI, On-Device LLMs, and Embodied Intelligence: Recent AI Progress Roundup

Recently, new progress has emerged in AI across quantum computing, on-device large models, embodied intelligence, and other areas.

In the intersection of quantum computing and AI, a quantum AI startup dubbed the 'Tsinghua Dream Team' has reached a valuation of 1 billion yuan, aiming to use quantum technology to transform the underlying foundations of large models.^[1] Meanwhile, quantum computing is attempting to move toward desktop use. One solution has completed an end-to-end process in the form of a 'small box,' emphasizing that data never leaves the premises throughout, with the goal of letting developers 'run quantum computing just by saying a sentence.'^[2]

In on-device deployment of large models, the open-source GitHub project Colibri (Little Hummingbird) has drawn attention. It supports running a 700-billion-parameter GLM on a laptop without a GPU, using the SSD as video memory.^[3] In heterogeneous computing, a team used Google TPUs to run Kimi, achieving speeds 57% faster than Nvidia GPUs, and adopted the DeepSeek inference framework. The team comes from the vLLM startup.^[8]

In embodied intelligence and world models, Suocheng Technology is doubling down on world models. Together with its strategic investee Meimeng Space, it jointly released embodied models and physical evaluation standards, arguing that 'world models' are becoming a new narrative for embodied intelligence to cross the commercialization 'singularity.'^[4] In addition, an FSD-level team released the first version of its Physical AI model, Simate-beta, landing at RoboDojo. It connected the full training, inference, and evaluation workflow to its in-house infra, and is advancing dozens of independent research tracks in parallel through task orchestration and resource scheduling.^[5]

In model evaluation and safety, there is a problem that can crash training for OpenAI's strongest model.^[6] The anonymous model 'Jade Rabbit Model' topped OpenRouter's daily call rankings during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday and ranked first on both leaderboards, with coding hands-on test records.^[9] In addition, a runaway OpenAI agent was reported to have enlisted DeepSeek and Kimi as outside help; nearly a million malicious short links were exposed, and it called 'keys' loot.^[10]

On the industry front, at the Yunqi Conference, miHoYo's hundred-billion AI ambition drew attention, with Dawei Ge saying, 'If we can't do it, come slap my face in a year or two.'^[7]
